South Peru Development Insitute - PROSUR, is a civil institution without profit purposes, which constitutes a serious alternative from the private sector to prepare, promote and execute studies, projects, programs and offers, especially oriented to Arequipa's reactivation and development, and in general to the South of Perú

VISION

To be a leader institution promoting regional development, actively working for promoting a climate for investment, contributing to a sustainable development in the long term.

MISSION

To contribute with the growth of both investments and exports from Arequipa and from the south region of Peru; to achieve its reactivation and development in all the areas inside the economic activity.

PHILOSOPHY

The economic, social and political development for the country of Peru can not be only a government's responsibility but for all the Peruvians and especially for the private sector's vision, due to the employment's generation, investment and national output growth rest on it.

On the basis of this conviction, PROSUR considers that to overcome the state of underdevelopment of the country, it's demanded the execution of urgent actions orientated to take advantage of our natural resources, human potentials, comparative advantages and creation of competitive advantages, in a decentralized way, giving the maximum importance to the productive investment, that allows to accomplish expansion plans inside an agile pace of growth and a coherent strategy, looking for both rational and practical solutions that allow to promote the available resources.

In conformity with the mentioned worry and taking into account that inside the new economic international order, characterized by high models of competition, application of development opened schemes, based on both the market's functioning and the conformation of blocks of trade inside a scheme of globalization of the economy, it is only possible to get into a process of reactivation and development across the execution of selective and prior programs of investment, in where private sector 's both determined and active participation must be complemented with the role of a supplementary State and promoter.


PRINCIPAL OBJECTIVES

1.       To the search of rational solutions and practices tending to achieve the utilization, recovery, modernization and development of physical infrastructure and that of all its services, as a pre requirement in order to the private sector could materialize initiatives and develop projects.

2.      To the study, preparation and promotion of possible and prior projects of investment for the generation of employment and solution to the problem of the poverty.

3.      To the economic - spatial integration of the south of Peru and of the internationalization of this one with its nearby zones of influence of South America and its orientation to the Pacific Basin.

4.      To the strengthening of the managerial sector inside a conception of modernity and competitiveness.

5.      To promote the development of new exporter companies with high employment generation.

ORGANIZATION


The PROSUR Institute orientates its actions on the base of an organizational structure at the expense of the Partners' General Assembly, the Managerial Council, and the General Management which members are professional and men of company linked with the different economic and social sectors.
Additionaly it relies on a directory of professionals, experts and first level specialists in the different fields of the economic, financial, managerial and social activity, which participation contributes to the achievement of its aims.

HISTORY

The Institute PROSUR has its precedent in the labor developed by the Project South that arose from a group of both professionals and men of company's initiative, which made possible, from January, 1989 with private financing, the elaboration of orientated studies to the analysis of the South of Peru economic and social sectors principal problems and the identification of investment possibilities and alternatives for regional development on the base of decentralization.
